Now Hiring – Interventional Radiologist for the Minneapolis, Minnesota VA Health Care System (Two Positions Available)

DAX Healthcare Solutions is hiring two Board-Certified Interventional Radiologists for an anticipated long-term opportunity supporting adult Veterans at the Minneapolis VA Health Care System.

Opportunity Snapshot

  • Location: Minneapolis VA Health Care System – Minneapolis, MN
  • Salary: $450.00 per hour plus travel & lodging (if applicable)
  • Start Date: Anticipated December 1, 2026; initial 6-month commitment with extension options under a structure running through November 30, 2028
  • Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m.; 100% on site
  • Coverage Model: Two Interventional Radiologists on site each weekday; one physician designated as the daily clinical/operational point of contact
  • Call: Rotating evenings, weekends, and federal holidays when the IR clinic is closed
  • License: Any current, full, and unrestricted U.S. state or territory medical license accepted
  • Patient Population: Adult Veterans

The Role

This hospital-based role spans inpatient and outpatient care and combines complex image-guided procedures, vascular imaging, consultation, follow-up care, quality improvement, and resident/fellow teaching. Approximately 95% of the work is direct patient care, with 5% dedicated to administrative and quality activities.


Clinical Scope

  • Angiography, angioplasty, vascular stenting, embolization, thrombolysis, TIPS, and IVC filters
  • Y-90 radioembolization, chemoembolization, and radiofrequency, cryo-, and microwave ablation
  • CT- and ultrasound-guided biopsies, drainage procedures, biliary interventions, and line placement
  • Dialysis access; nephrostomy, cholecystostomy, gastrostomy, thoracentesis, paracentesis, lumbar puncture, vertebroplasty, and joint procedures
  • Complex vascular ultrasound, CTA, and MRA interpretation; moderate sedation and contrast-reaction management
  • Clinical consultation, post-procedure management, complication follow-up, and resident/fellow supervision

Required Qualifications

  • Current American Board of Radiology certification with subspecialty certification in Interventional Radiology
  • Current, full, and unrestricted medical license in any U.S. state, territory, commonwealth, or the District of Columbia
  • Current ACLS certification and DEA registration; minimum 3-5 years of Interventional Radiology experience
  • Recent, broad procedure experience documented in a detailed 12-24 month case log
  • Proficiency with CT, ultrasound, fluoroscopy, and interventional imaging equipment
  • Current CME, including 15 vascular CME credits within 3 years; ability to meet all VA credentialing and onboarding requirements
  • Strong communication skills and comfort working with patients, families, trainees, referring physicians, nurses, technologists, and surgeons

Schedule and Call Expectations

Regular clinical hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m., with a brief daily huddle before the first case. Call coverage applies whenever the IR clinic is closed, including evenings, weekends, and federal holidays. On-call physicians must respond by phone within 15 minutes and be able to arrive on site within 60 minutes.

Weekend call blocks run Friday 4:30 p.m.-Saturday 7:30 a.m., Saturday 7:30 a.m.-Sunday 7:30 a.m., and Sunday 7:30 a.m.-Monday 7:30 a.m.

Please note: This opportunity is fully on-site and is NOT a telehealth position. Candidates must be able to satisfy the 60-minute on-site call-response requirement.
